Ikhtisar
Ranchview High School is part of the CFBISD, although it is located in the Valley Farm within the city limits of Irving. The campus has a 54 acre (220,000 m 2 ) site located between Valley Ranch Parkway South, Valley Park Park East and Ranchview Drive. Ranchview started with grades 8 and 9 only when it opened in 2002. The high schools in CFB-ISD do not traditionally include grade 8, so the next year the 8th grade becomes a new class, and grade 8 classes return to Barbara Bush Secondary School. The school continues its second year of grades 9 and 10, and adds value annually thereafter until it reaches full secondary school status (grades 9-12) in the 2005-2006 school year. To meet the growing needs of the student population, the new class wing opens in early 2016, along with expanded band halls, auditoriums, and expanded art wings.
Ranchview has an average class size of 22 students, and a 10-to-1 student-to-staff ratio. Students at RHS are encouraged to engage in extracurricular clubs and activities and join art groups and athletics teams.
The level of instructional challenge is seen in the series of Pre-Diploma, IB, and AP programs offered at Ranchview. These include Physics, Biology, Visual Arts, Statistics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Calculus, American History, English, French, Spanish, and a unique IB Theory of Knowledge course. In addition, partnerships with Northlake and Brookhaven Colleges, Texas Tech University, and The University of Texas allow students to earn college credit while still enrolled in high school. In addition to the tuition savings, the third graduate class of 150 students received more than $ 1.2 million in scholarships.
In the performing arts, the students produce many concerts, dramas, dance recitals, and art exhibitions each year. Each of the performing groups includes members who are also active in highly competitive cities and regional levels of choirs, bands, dance and theater groups, and orchestras. The school is also home to various athletic teams.
