Particle size analysis , particle size measurement, or simple particle size is the collective name of a technical procedure, or laboratory technique that determines the size range, and/or average, or average size of the particles in a powdered sample or liquid.
Particle size analysis is part of particle science, and its determination is generally performed in particle technology laboratories.
Particle size measurement is usually accomplished by a device called Particle Size Analyzers (PSA) based on different technologies, such as high definition image processing, Brown motion analysis, particle gravity precipitation and light scattering (Rayleigh and Mie scattering) of particles.
Particle size can be very important in a number of industries including chemical, food, mining, forestry, agriculture, nutrition, pharmaceutical, energy, and aggregate industries.
