MS Anthem of the Seas is a cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International (RCI). He is the second ship of the Quantum class, which surpassed the previous-class Freedom vessel with more than 140,000 GT, becoming the second largest class of passenger ships behind RCI Oasis i> class is shipped with gross tonnage basis.

Concept and construction
On February 11, 2011, Royal Caribbean announced that it had ordered a new class ship from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the first scheduled to be delivered in Autumn 2014. At that time, the project was code-named "Project Sunshine". Later that year, two units of ABB Azipod XO 20.5 MW were ordered for the vessel.
On February 29, 2012, the company announced that the second "Sunshine Project" vessel had been ordered and would be delivered in Spring 2015, and ordered an identical Azipod drive unit shortly after. Just under a year later, on January 31, 2013, Royal Caribbean announced the official name of the new ship class, Quantum Class, as well as the names of the first two vessels in the class, Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas .

Service history
Anthem of the Seas was sent to Royal Caribbean on April 10, 2015. He arrived in his hometown of Southampton, England, on April 15, 2015, to prepare for his first spring in Europe. At a ceremony held in Southampton on April 20, 2015, he was baptized by Emma Wilby, a British travel agent chosen after searching for a singing travel agent, and also because he gave examples of "grace, beauty, social awareness (sic) and adventure. "In addition to being a travel agent, Mrs. Wilby is a military wife who sings in Military Wives Choir in Kinloss, Scotland.
The christening ceremony took place at the Royal Theater ship in front of 1,300 guests. It started with a procession, followed by performances by Reading Scottish Pipe Band, and Only Boys Aloud, a choir of boys from Wales. MsÃ, Wilby then sang Katy Perry's hit song "Firework", after which he pressed a button to send a huge bottle of Perrier-JouÃÆ'Â champ½ champagne on the zipline on the top deck of the ship, from North Star gondola thriller climbing to the wall carrying the name of the ship.
Anthem of the Seas departs from Southampton on its maiden voyage, an eight-night voyage to France and Spain, on April 22, 2015. He has spent his first season in Europe from Southampton to the Mediterranean, North Europe and the Canary Islands. Starting November 2015, he will operate a seven to twelve night travel plan to the Caribbean and Bahamas from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, USA. In 2016, Anthem of the Seas will sail year-round from New Jersey, sailing to the Caribbean, Bermuda and Canada/New England. Anthem of the Seas will be the largest ship ever to sail in Canadian waters.
Design
Staterooms
Anthem of the Seas has 16 decks accessible by passengers, 8 of which have balconies overlooking the ocean. Like the Celebrity Solstice class, the stateroom on a live boat is impregnated into the superstructure and does not look directly into the ocean. There are a total of 2,090 stateroom: 1,570 balcony cabins, 147 sea view staterooms, and 373 inside the cabin. From staterooms, 34 wheelchair accessible and 28 studio staterooms to single travelers (including 12 studio staterooms with balconies). All the rear-facing stateroom is a 2-storey "loft" suite. Expanding on the "Virtual Porthole" concept introduced by Disney Cruise Line at Disney Dream, all interior cabins have a floor-to-ceiling, high-definition 80-inch TV screen that shows live views from outside the vessel, called Royal Caribbean as the "Virtual Balcony". On average, the cabin in class Quantum is 9 percent bigger than the previous Oasis class.
Activities and entertainment
Like the vessels of Freedom and Oasis -class earlier, "Sports Court" on the 15th deck of the stern featuring Wave Loch Flowrider surf simulator and rock climbing wall. A new feature in the Quantum class is "RipCord by iFLY", a skydiving simulator that is set in a recreational vertical aerial tunnel in the recirculation room. Reservations for RipCord can be made online before the voyage. All the features of the Sports deck are free, although Royal Caribbean charges for pictures and videos taken from RipCord participants are taken by the crew photographer. Guests are free to take their own photos or ask other guests to take pictures or videos of them.
The "NorthStar" observation tower, located at the front end of the upper deck, uses 7.8 ton (7.8-ton-short) glass-walled capsules at the end of a 41-meter-long crane arm (135Ã,f) to lift groups up to 14 guests above and above the edge of the ship, reaching a height of up to 300 feet above sea level. Traveling on Northstar is free, with the exception of sunrise, sunset, and private trips that have a fee, and can be booked online in advance.
Anthem of the Seas is the first cruise ship to offer an on-board escape board game, Puzzle Break "Escape from the Future."
Deck 14 features an outdoor pool with a large video screen, indoor pool with a retractable roof, an indoor "Solarium" with adult pool, a "H2O Zone" water park featuring the first wave pool on a cruise ship, and at least 4 Whirlpool. Other features include those that have become standard on Royal Caribbean ships recently including the Spa and Fitness Center on the 15th and 16th decks, the "Adventure Ocean" kids club on the 11th and 12th deck, "The Royal Theater" in Broadway style at decks 4-5, and casinos on deck 3. Unlike before Voyager , Freedom , and Oasis , Quantum - the class ship does not have a Viking Crown Lounge or an ice skating rink, and the Royal Promenade mall at the ship's center is replaced with a two-story "Royal Esplanade".

The Royal Theater
The Royal Theater is a Broadway-style theater on the 4-5 deck. It is home to a full production license of Broadway Musicals We Will Rock You , original stage production The Gift , main action, 3D movies, and other entertainment.
Two70Ã, Â °
Two70 ° is a sitting room on deck 5-7 at the stern of the ship, which features a panoramic view of the 270-degree panoramic ocean, café and ice bar. Automatic window shades can mask windows to limit the amount of incoming sunlight, and the project projection system 13-projectors can project direct view from outside the ship and other images to that color. At night, moving furniture and retractable chandeliers and chandeliers allow space to be reconfigured for use as a cabaret style show or as a disco. Night use will utilize a projection system and six 100-inch, robotic-controlled LCD television screens to provide a digital background.
In 2016, the venue features a "Spectra Cabaret" show starring Raven O and Harmony Sisters.
SeaPlex
Set amidst the 15th deck, SeaPlex is a large indoor gym with a full-size basketball court that can be transformed into a dance floor, a flying trapeze school, a roller-skating arena, or a bumper ride. The "SeaPlex" also features SeaPlex Dog House food trucks, and has Xbox space, table tennis, air hockey, and foosball tables on the second level mezzanine.
The Music Hall
The Music Hall is a 2-storey lounge on the 3rd and 4th decks that also serves as a nightclub and a small music venue. The Music Hall features a self-leveling pool table first seen on a Radiance class ship.
Dining
Unlike previous Royal Caribbean ships, Anthem of the Seas lacks the main dining room. Instead, the vessel uses the concept of Dynamic Eating similar to the Freestyle concept used on the Norwegian Cruise Line, with guests being asked to make reservations for their restaurant choices for each night in advanced, and each place will maintain the same menu throughout the voyage. A "classic" dining option will be offered, similar to rotational dining on the Disney Cruise Line, allowing guests to keep the same server, table-peer, and meal times each night as they rotate among the four greatest restaurants. On November 27, 2016 "Dynamic Dining Classic" was stopped and replaced with "My Time Dining". The Grande and Chic restaurant serves Traditional Dining and the Silk and American Icon restaurant serves Flexible Dining. Traditional meals include a fixed meal time (6 or 8:30 pm), same table assignments and the same table friends every night. Guests at Flexible Dining are seated upon arrival order. Free

Anthem of the Seas includes many bars and lounges, including the signature Royal Caribbean Schooner Bar and Boleros, Ice Bar located at Two70Ã, °, Michael's Genuine Pub, and Bionic Bar featuring robot bartenders from Makr Shakr.
Incident
On February 7, 2016, the ship was struck by "extreme wind and sea" in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina while sailing south from Bayonne, New Jersey to Port Canaveral, Florida. The ship was caught in a 30-foot (9.1 m) and 125 km per hour (201Ã, km/h) wake-up waves. Passengers are advised to stay in their huts, as boat shaking overturns the furniture and causes damage to public areas and cabins, including the collapsed part of the suspended ceiling and makes one of the two azipoda drive units unable to operate. Royal Caribbean reported that only four passengers suffered minor injuries, but many on board said a different story. A man describes the storm as "The scariest, most terrible experience of my life." The ship sailed back on February 8, returning to the harbor in the New York area to avoid further predictable bad weather. Passengers are returned their full shipping charges, and receive credits for 50% of their tariff towards future voyages within the next year.
On June 30, 2016, when a ship sailing from Bayonne, New Jersey, 8-year-old Adepoju prince from Maryland was found unresponsive in a ship's pool. When CPR is done, the ship returns to the harbor and meets the NYPD and FDNY ships and NYPD helicopters that eventually fly it to Staten Island University Hospital. After two days in pediatric intensive care, Adepoju died on July 2, 2016. The medical examiner considers his death as an accident.
On September 4, 2016, Anthem of the Seas was once again confronted with storm conditions generated from the nearby Hurricane Hermine, which was a tropical cyclone heading at the time. The vessel gusts up to 90 mph. Once again, the passengers are confined in their cabin to get out of the storm. However, this one caused less damage than previous incidents.
On December 1, 2016, when Anthem of the Seas docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico, two American passengers were found dead. Authorities say the corpse is showing no signs of violence and appears to have died of natural causes.
On February 18, 2017 at around 9:55 am, a 75-year-old woman suffering from diabetic shock was flown by the US Coast Guard from a ship located about 100 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
On February 8, 2018 at around 16:00, a 71-year-old man, who had a medical emergency, was transferred to the Bermudian pilot boat. It happens about a quarter of a mile from the beach, near the northern end of the island of Bermuda. The man was then taken to the local hospital for treatment.
