Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) is an American diesel engine manufacturer headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, United States and a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America, which is also a wholly owned subsidiary entirely by German Daimler AG. The company produces heavy duty machines and chassis components for the commercial truck market on the highway and vocational. Detroit Diesel has built more than 5 million machines since 1938, more than 1 million of which are still operating worldwide. The Detroit Diesel product line includes engines, axles, transmissions, and Virtual Technicians.
Detroit engines, transmissions, and axles are used in some truck models manufactured by Daimler Trucks North America.
