browser speed test is a computer benchmark that assesses the performance of a web browser, by measuring the efficiency of the browser in completing a predefined task list. In general, test software is available online, located on the website, where various algorithms are loaded and performed in the client's browser. Common test tasks are rendering and animation, DOM transformation, string operations, mathematical calculations, sorting algorithms, graphical performance tests and memory instructions. Browser speed tests have been used during browser wars to prove the benefits of certain web browsers. The popular Acid3 test is not a special speed test but checks browser compatibility with web standards (though it checks if general performance goals are met).

Peacekeeper
Peacekeeper is a futuremark-platform platform by Futuremark that tests rendering, math and memory operations. It takes approximately. 5 minutes for execution and notify other browser results with different CPU. Futuremark stopped retaining Peacekeeper in July 2015. Trial is offline in March 2018 and is no longer available.
Speed-Battle
The JavaScript engine test uses a simple algorithm. Showing results from other visitors (best, average, poorest) with the same operating system and browser version. Additional statistics page with browser ratings.
Testdrive
Microsoft maintains a series of performance-oriented testing, often designed to test and suppress JavaScript and display performance. These tests are usually designed to highlight IE performance, but are compatible with other major browsers.
Basemark Web 3.0
The online speed test by Basemark BasemarkÃ,Ã Web 3.0 is a comprehensive web browser performance benchmark that tests how well your mobile or desktop system can use modern web-based applications. This bench includes a variety of system and graphical tests using the latest web standards and features. After running the benchmark, you will see how your system's performance compares to other systems and browsers on the Power Board Basemark. Basemark Web 3.0 is an independent hardware and platform, supporting almost all modern browsers, operating systems and mobile or desktop systems.

Wirple BMark
Performance tests for HTML5 3D applications. Test performance on Canvas3D and WebGL.
Developer set
Benchmark.js
A powerful benchmark library that works across almost any JavaScript platform, supports high-resolution timers, and returns statistically significant results.
Dromaeo
The Mozilla test suite is based on the SunSpider test. It takes several minutes for execution and displays very detailed information about every single test task.
ECMAScript Test 262
ECMA International is the standardization authority for JavaScript. test262 is a benchmark that makes up a large number of individual tests to test suitability. Individual tests in this suite were developed by members of the TC39 organization, technical committees assigned to the standardized ECMAScript programming language. Currently test262 suites consist of 10,000 tests and yet under many tests are scheduled for inclusion in the future.
GUIMark 2
Vector, bitmap, and text rendering tests for Adobe Flash and HTML5.
JetStream
A JavaScript test suite developed by Apple.
JSLitmus
JavaScript speed test.
Kraken
Another JavaScript test suite from Mozilla, released September 14, 2010.
Octan
Google's JavaScript test suite that replaces the V8 benchmark. According to Google, "Octane v.1 consists of 13 tests, 5 new and 8 from the original V8 Benchmark Suite." Octane v.2 replaces v.1, consisting of "17 tests, four more than Octane v1."
Beginning April 12, 2017, Google no longer defends the Octane.
SunSpider
SunSpider is a benchmark suite that aims to measure JavaScript performance on tasks relevant to current and future use of JavaScript in the real world, such as encryption and text manipulation. The suites further try to be balanced and statistically sound.
Version 0.9 was released by the WebKit team in December 2007. It was well received, and other browser developers also used it to compare JavaScript performance from different browsers.
Version 0.9.1 was released in April 2010.
Version 1.0 was released in April 2013.
V8
JavaScript test suite by Google, used to optimize the Google Chrome web browser. Not testing render performance. Replaced by Google Octane benchmark.
