Amber Josephine Liu (Mandarin: born September 18, 1992), known professionally as Amber ( Korea: ?? ), is an American rapper and singer currently active in South Korea. She is a member of South Korean girl group f (x). He debuted as a solo artist in February 2015 with the release of his EP, Beautiful .

Amber was born on September 18, 1992 in Los Angeles, California. Her parents are from Taiwan and her father has Teochew's offspring. She has a sister named Jackie. He attended El Camino Real High School in Los Angeles before moving to South Korea to become a trainee under S.M. Entertainment.

Amber thrown from S.M. Audition's global audition in Los Angeles in 2008, where she and a man were selected to be trainees for S.M. Entertainment. After a year and a half of training, she debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group f (x) in September 2009. During the group's reality show episode, Go f (x) , Amber revealed that her parents initially had feelings jumbled about his music career. He stated: "My dad was very careful, at first... but then my mother always support from the beginning, I really thank him and he also assured my father".
He has composed and written lyrics for several group songs such as "Goodbye Summer" which is a song on their second studio album, Pink Tape and Summer Lover from their third studio album Red Light . In addition to the award-winning songs, Amber also works with fellow group Luna and Krystal for the KBS God of Study drama, in a song called "Spread Its Wings".
Solo activity
He often collaborated with S.M. Entertainment artist. Label mate Yuri from Girls' Generation brought cover of Ciara's song "1, 2 Step" at their first concert, Into the New World, held on December 19 and 20 in Seoul and featured Amber as a rapper and dancer. The song was later included in their first live album. In June 2010, she was featured in the Taiwanese singer's main song, Mandarin's third studio album Danson Tang, The First Second . She performed Korean and English rap sections of the song, and was also featured in the song's music video. In 2013, she is featured in the Korean version of Henry's debut album title track, called "1-4-3 (I Love You)".
Amber also made a career on television. From October 2011 to April 2012, Amber is part of the reality show, Invincible Youth . He had to leave the show to prepare for his group's debut in Japan. She also performed MBC's Show Champion with Eunjung T-ara for a year, both resigning as host on December 18, 2013. On June 6, 2014, she hosted KBS Events, A Song for You with Kangin of Super Junior and Yook Sungjae from BTOB. He is also the host of We Got Married Global Edition . That same year, she appeared in the 9 episode reality series, One Fine Day, with singer Ailee, who was her close friend. The show, which aired on MBC Music, followed the holiday trip they took and filmed on Jeju Island. On December 31, Amber was confirmed as a member of the cast for the second special female soldier from MBC Real Men .
Amber officially debuted as a solo artist, releasing its debut EP, Beautiful , on February 13, 2015. The title track, "Shake That Brass", featured Taeyeon Girls' Generation. A few days before the release of the album, a lyric video for the B-side song, "Beautiful", was released. The music video contains photos of the singer's childhood, as well as photographs since her debut as a member of f (x). The lyrics tell the story of the difficulties he faces as he pursues his dream of becoming an entertainer and how he likes himself like himself. Beautiful debuted at number two on the Billboard World Album chart and number 19 on Heatseekers Albums. According to Jeff Benjamin of Billboard K-Town, this ranking shows that Amber has a large international fan base.
As part of the SM Station project, Amber's solo single, "Borders", was released in March 2016. He participated in the writing, writing of lyrics and song arrangements. Written entirely in English, the hip hop track shares Amber's childhood experiences and gives a positive message of not giving in to yourself against the hardships of life.
On May 15, 2016 S.M. Entertainment posted a mysterious teaser for a new song called "Crossing". On May 16, 2016 S.M. Entertainment announced that Amber will be releasing a new digital single on May 18, 2016 titled "On My Own". On May 22, 2016 Amber announced the release of their third single on Crossing series following "Borders" and "On My Own", on May 25 titled "Need to Feel Needed".
On September 9, 2016 S.M. Entertainment publishes an official music video for "Breathe Again". This is the first fully English-language song and her first collaboration with Japanese DJ, Ksuke.
On April 15, 2018, Amber released a solo mixtape in English, Rogue Rouge , with six songs, free on SoundCloud. She also released a music video for one song, "Closed Doors", on YouTube, with plans to release a total of six videos.
