Plot
The helicopter fleet sprayed for medflies and revealed all the characters along their flight path. Dr Ralph Wyman and his wife, Marian, met other couples, Stuart and Claire Kane, at the Zoe Trainer cello concert and made a spontaneous Sunday dinner. Marian's sister, Sherri, married an infidel cop, Gene, who created wonderful stories to hide her affair with Betty Weathers. Betty is in the process of divorcing one of the helicopter pilots, Stormy. The waitress Doreen Piggot is married to a limousine alcohol driver, Earl. Television commentator Howard Finnigan lives with his wife, Anne, and their son, Casey, next to Zoe and his mother, the cabaret singer Tess. Their pool cleaner is Jerry Kaiser, whose wife, Lois, works from home as a sex-phone operator by taking care of the children while she is talking to a foreign man. Jerry and Lois are friends with Doreen's daughter, Honey, and her husband, Bill, who works as a makeup artist.
The day before Casey's eighth birthday, Doreen hit him in his car as he ran to school. Casey looked fine and refused Doreen's offer to go home, because he was a stranger. Her mother came home from ordering her birthday cake to find her lying lethargic on the couch. Howard convinces him to take Casey to the hospital, where he remains unconscious. The baker called the next day to tell Ann that the cake was ready, but Howard, who wanted to keep the line, quickly ended the conversation. The baker immediately called back, angry with hanging. While the Finns maintained their vigilance, the bakers continued to call and harass the couple. Howard's estranged father showed up at the hospital and recalled that Casey's hospitalization reminded him of a day when Howard was in a car accident when he was a child. When Howard's mother went to her sister's house, she found her in bed with her husband, whom she had teased. It causes estrangement between father and son.
Stuart and his two friends, Gordon and Vern, harassed Doreen at the diner before they left on their three-day fishing trip. On the first day, they found the body of a young woman, submerged near the rocks. After some debate, they decide to tie it to the rock, continue fishing, and report the body when they are done. When he came home, Stuart finally confessed to Claire what they had done, and she was disgusted that they could lure for days with a woman's body nearby. The body was identified as a 23-year-old woman, and Claire visited the funeral home for guilt.
Stormy visits Betty's house, as if to take her mother's hour but spends the day destroying her things. Bill and Honey consoled themselves in the apartment they watched while the owner was on vacation by taking some pictures of Honey where Bill made it appear as if he was brutally beaten. Gen left the family dog ââon the strange street because he could not stand his bark, but after a few days of questioning his desperate children, he returned to the neighborhood and picked up the dog, who had been picked up by the Verns. The Wymans get into a big argument before their dinner party with Kanes. Marian acknowledged an affair. Both partners relieve their stress by drinking a lot, and the party lasts all night.
One day, Casey's eyes began to shake. Ann's excitement grew, but when he seemed fully conscious, he suddenly died. Seeing that and being overwhelmed, Howard's father, Paul, left the hospital while a desperate couple returned home and told Zoe about Casey's death. The next day, they went to the bakery to embarrass the baker for his torture against them. When he finds out why they never take the cake, he asks them to stay and give them the baked goods. Zoe, who had begun to faint from her mother's alcoholism and her alienation, committed suicide by starting a car engine inside her garage; he plays the cello when he suffers from shortness of breath. Later that day, her mother found Zoe's death and confused.
When Honey takes pictures of the developers, they mix with Gordon's. She was horrified to see the photos of Honey, who had apparently been beaten so badly, and she was horrified to see the pictures Gordon had taken from his submerged body on his fishing trip. They walk away from each other, remembering their respective number plates. Honey and Bill are on a picnic trip with Jerry and Lois. In the park, Jerry and Bill try to rape the two young women they met before, and Bill quickly makes excuses to split up the couple. As she and one of the girls walk away from Jerry and the other girl, they hear her screams. They turned to see Jerry hit his head with a rock, just as a huge earthquake struck. After the incident, Jerry's murder of the girl was linked to a rock that fell during an earthquake.
