Histori

The ship was booked in February 2006 and was designed under the name "Project Genesis". The time period is set for November 12, 2007 by STX Europe Turku Shipyard, Finland. The Company announces that full funding for Oasis of the Seas is guaranteed on April 15, 2009.

The name Oasis of the Seas was generated from the competition held in May 2008.

During the first buoy of the ship, the tugboat that pulled the ship from its dock failed to control the vessel, which resulted in the port side of the ship crashing into the dock. This results in cosmetic damage and minor damage to the stomach, which is repaired and does not affect the ship's final delivery date.

The ship was completed and submitted to Royal Caribbean on October 28, 2009. Two days later, he departed from Finland to the United States. Upon exiting the Baltic Sea, the ship passes under the Great Belt Fixed Link in Denmark on October 31, 2009 at 23:18 UTC. This bridge has a permit of 65 m (213 ft) above water; Oasis usually have a 72 m (236 ft) air draft. The path under the bridge is possible because the telescoping funnel retraction, and an additional 30 cm (12 inches) is obtained by a squat effect in which a ship traveling at a speed in the shallow channel gets drawn deeper into the water. Approaching the bridge at 23 knots (43 km/h, 26 mph), the ship passes under it with less than 60 cm (2 feet) clearance.

Continuing through the English Channel, Oasis stops briefly at the Solent so that 300 shipyard workers on board can do the finishing work down, then go to the harbor home at Fort Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. , Florida. The ship arrived there on November 13, 2009, where tropical plants were installed before several introductory trips and their maiden voyages on December 5, 2009.

While Royal Caribbean captain William S. Wright heads the ship's journey across the Atlantic and also for some of the first voyages, by 2018 the Oasis of the Seas navigation is handled by Claus Andersen and Per Kristoffersen.

Oasis has a slight improvement in winter 2011, adding DreamWorks Experience that allows passengers to interact with characters, such as Shrek, on board. The Oasis -class also now features 3D movies.

Oasis underwent a second drydock upgrade in October 2014. During the drydock the vessel was modified to support Dynamic Eating, added the only "suite" Kitchen Restaurant to Viking Crown and divided the main dining room into three separate restaurants: "American Icon Grill "," The Grande ", and" Silk ". In addition, the stylish production of Broadway Hairspray is replaced with the production of Cat .

Technical details

Gross tonnage Oasis of the Seas is 225,282. The displacement - actual ship mass - is estimated at about 100,000 metric tons (110,000 short tons), slightly less than the American-class aircraft carrier Nimitz .

In order for the vessel to remain stable without excessively improving the design, the designers create a wide hull; 9.3 meters (31Ã, ft) of vessels sitting underwater, a small percentage of the overall height of the ship. Such broad and shallow boats tend to be "sharp", meaning that they can re-erect after the waves pass, which can be uncomfortable. This effect, however, is mitigated by the large size of the ship. The yacht officers were happy with the ship's stability and performance during the transatlantic crossings, when the ship, to allow finishing work to proceed, slowed and changed course in the face of wind "almost to the force of the storm" and the sea at over 12 meters (39Ã, ).

The ship's power comes from six mid-speed diesel power plants: three 16-cylinder Wave Kraftil 16 16k46 common rail engines that produce 18,860 kilowatts (25,290 hp) each and three 12-cylinder 12-cylinder Wave 12-cylinder engines produce 13,860 kilowatts (18,590 hp) respectively. Fuel consumption of main engines with full power is 1,377 gallons US (5,210 â,¬, 1,147 impÃ, gal) of fuel per hour machine for 16-cylinder engines and 1,033 US gallons (3.910.000; 860 galaxies) per machine per hour for 12 cylinder engine. The total output of this prime mover, about 97,020 kilowatts (130,110 hp), converted into electricity, is used in hotel personnel for the operation of lamps, lifts, electronics, galleys, water treatment plants and all other systems used in ship operations, as well as propulsion. Propulsion is provided by three 20,000 kilowatts (26,800 hp) of Azipod, the ABB azimuth electric driving force. This pod, suspended under the stern, contains an electric motor that drives a 20-foot (6 m) propeller. Since they can be rotated, no steering is required to drive the ship. Docking is aided by four 5,500-kilowatt (7,380 hp) transversal arc boosters.

Additional power comes from solar panels installed by BAM Energy Group, which provides energy for lighting in pedestrian and central park areas. Installation cost is US $ 750.000 and covers 1,950 sq meters (21,000 sq.ft, ft) on deck 19.

The ship was carrying 18 lifeboats each holding 370 people, totaling 6,660 people. The inflatable life raft provides additional passengers and crew.
