History

It was designed by Charles Klauder and Louis A. Simon, in the Stripped Classical style in 1939. On April 28, 1988, it was renamed the "Wilbur J. Cohen Federal Building." On July 6, 2007, the Social Security Administration Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Voice of America and the Broadcasting Board of Governors are the building's main tenants. It moved there in 1954.

According to the internet movie data base (IMDB), TV director Bernard L. Kowalski had prepared a 1962 television pilot (never aired) starring William Bendix, entitled "330 Independence SW". This is the address of the (later renamed) Wilbur J. Cohen Federal Building, which in 1962 housed the Voice of America.
